Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
